It’s grossly hot and humid in NYC, which means I’m looking for loose, light tops to wear. Once again, I find myself eyeing Everlane’s Air tees and tanks. The Air items are made out of a thin, lightweight cotton fabric. I’ve tried various Air items over the years, so this post gathers those reviews into one post along with new try-ons.
A note on sizing: I generally wear a small in tops. But Everlane often runs big, so I tend to wear an XS in Everlane. So, when I say “true to Everlane sizing,” I mean one down from my usual size. Also, this review is from a petite perspective.

The Air Oversized Crew Tee

Air Oversized Crew Tee – $30
What Everlane Says: Made of drapey, super-light cotton, the Oversized Crew Neck Air Tee has an intentionally oversized fit and longer sleeves for a cool, relaxed look.
Sizing & Fit: True to its name, it’s oversized. I initially tried on the XXS, which seemed to fit better in the body, though that took away from the oversized look. But the XXS was snug in the arms. XS seems like the right size, so this is true to my Everlane size.
Details: As you can see, the material is on the sheer side — at least in white. The shape is quite wide, which seems to lead to excess material around the armpits. The length is also long on petite me. There’s a good deal of material to tuck in, though it’s also thin, so not a big deal. But it’s not the ideal tee for me.
The Air Muscle Tank

What Everlane Says: Made of our lightest, most breathable cotton, the Air Muscle Tank is complete with a high curved neckline, shoulder-width sleeves, and a relaxed boxy shape.
Sizing & Fit: True to Everlane sizing.
Details: There’s a slight puckering out at the armpits on me. Not sure what that’s about. Maybe because I have more of a bust than the model? Or my shoulders are not as wide? Seems like a decent muscle tank overall.
The Air Tank

What Everlane Says: The Air Tank features a double scooped neckline, a slouchy silhouette, and a summer-ready, sleeveless tee look that tastefully shows off just the right amount of skin.
Sizing & Fit: Again, this is true to my Everlane size. The length is good for petite me. (Often, tank tops run way long for me.)
Details: I’m into the double scooped neckline, which is not too low in the front and sexy on the back. It’s comfortable, doesn’t cling to you, and at first it seemed to fit well. However, I reviewed the Air Tank last year, and while I was initially excited about it, I ended up sending it back. Why? Because it stretches out a lot in the arm holes, which you can see above. What is it with this Air fabric and the armpits? Too bad. This was almost a winner.
The Air Cami

What Everlane Says: The Air Cami features a rounded V neckline, bra-friendly straps, a curved hem, and a relaxed fit throughout.
Sizing & Fit: True to my Everlane size.
Details: This was the first Air item I tried from Everlane (original review here). Personally, I don’t find the curved hem and the shape flattering on me. A lot of people like the rounded V neckline, but it’s a touch lower than I like. I prefer the shape of the Air Tank. But it looks cute on the model. Didn’t try it long enough to know if it has the same stretching problem as the Air Tank. But if the Air Tank stretches, why wouldn’t the Air Cami?
More Air Items
There’s two more items in the Air series: the Air Racerback Tank (now on sale for $15, though people complain that the arm holes are way big) and the Air Scoop-Neck Tee, which isn’t carried in store. I’m curious about the latter. Just might have to order it for the sake of making this post more complete. I’ll update this post when I try it.
The Air Scoop-Neck Tee

Air Scoop-Neck Tee // Mott & Bow Jeans // Nisolo Sandals [review]
What Everlane Says: The Air Scoop-Neck Tee features a flattering scoop neckline, easy short sleeves, and a loose boxy fit, making it great for warm-weather days.
Sizing & Fit: I took a S in this. (So, true to my regular size, but one up from my Everlane size.) While I could also wear an XS, I liked the looser fit of the S. After all, this is for summer when I don’t want my clothes clinging to me. Also, the length isn’t too long and works well on a petite.
Details: The scoop-neck is scoopier than most. I think they got the details of the fit right. While it’s loose, it’s not too oversized or slouchy. The T-shirt drapes nicely and feels comfy. I decided to keep this one. I’ve only had it for two weeks, but so far it has washed well and kept its shape. There’s no weird stretching. (I didn’t put it in the dryer though. I am all about the line dry.)

The Air muscle tank was my very first Everlane order back in 2015 along with the Ryan tank. I still have and love them both.
I love the Ryan tank! It was also in one of my early Everlane orders. Wearing it right now, actually. I wish they still made it. I’d buy more.
What a coincidence! I’ve worn mine so long there are 2 small holes from age but not noticeable if I tuck it in. We should ask them to bring that one back!
