Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks

I still have part 3 of my Uniqlo summer review coming up (part 1 here and part 2 here) but it’s time to take a break to talk about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I can’t believe I forgot that Early Access (for Nordstrom card holders) started on July 13. I usually put it down on my calendar. The sale is for fall season (my favorite fashion season!) and it’s a decent sale. Most items seem to be around 25 to 35 percent off.

I happened to have an appointment downtown today, so I stopped by at the end of the day to take a quick look. Let’s start with shoes, since Nordstrom got its start selling shoes.

These Sam Edelman flats topped with a bow come in a lot of colorways and seem like a classic wardrobe staple. This brand unfortunately doesn’t work well for my wide-ish feet, but I think it’s a great buy if it works for you. Another good option are these Cole Haan ones which have a stacked heel and are sans bow. (The loafer slides were also part of the sale, but I’m not a fan of their look.)

Spring Shoes at Target

A recent stroll through the shoe department at Target has me coveting a few pairs. Like many others, I have a bit of a shoe problem. To me, a shoe can make an outfit. But buying shoes is hard for me. As I mentioned in my last post, my feet are on the wide-ish side by American standards, so shoe shopping can be challenging. As a shortie, I want the height of heels. But I also don’t want to kill my feet. (Limping is so not sexy.) I want something that’s both cute and comfy. Is that too much to ask for? Sometimes, it seems like it is. I have wasted so much money buying shoes only to find out they don’t fit right and hurt me. At least Target’s price point makes it easier to justify taking home a new pair.

Block heels are in right now. This is good news for me! I like them for the practicality of a more stable heel. The two below are from Target’s Merona house brand. I’m in love with the look of this first pair. The denim fabric and cork heel say, Hello Summer! At 2.25″ tall, the heel height is manageable. I tried them on in the store and they seemed comfortable. However, the shoe is made out of man-made materials, and I fear the strap across the toes would remain stiff and cause blisters.
